Vitamin K2 reduces cholesterol, atherosclerosis
We explored whether vitamin K2, a form of vitamin K, could help in managing high cholesterol and atherosclerosis in rabbits with elevated cholesterol levels.

Over a span of ten weeks, we administered different doses of vitamin K2 to rabbits fed a cholesterol-rich diet.

The findings were encouraging; the vitamin K2-treated rabbits had significantly lower cholesterol levels compared to a control group.

Additionally, it seems that vitamin K2 at moderate doses helped slow down the development of atherosclerosis without any adverse effects on blood coagulation.

Nutraceuticals ineffective for cholesterol
We conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to see if a nutraceutical combination including vitamin K could improve cholesterol and inflammation in 118 individuals with high cholesterol.

After 6 and 12 weeks, we found that this combination didn't significantly lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, or triglycerides. It also had no impact on various inflammatory biomarkers.

Our findings indicate that, at the doses used, the nutraceutical combination did not effectively change cholesterol or inflammatory markers.

Vitamin K impacts cholesterol relationship
We examined whether a dietary supplement containing Octacosanol and vitamin K2 could help regulate cholesterol levels for those taking atorvastatin. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with 87 participants over 13 weeks, we didn't see any major changes in overall cholesterol or PCSK9 levels.

However, we found that the relationship between the changes in PCSK9 and LDL cholesterol normalized in participants taking the supplement. This suggests that while cholesterol levels remained steady, the supplement might help improve how these two important factors relate to each other in the context of statin therapy.
